Dear Readers, 

Hello again! With another semester right around the corner we at TSI wanted to share some important updates, information, and highlight a new internship opportunity for DC based students. 

SEMAFOR Fall Internship Opportunity: 

The Stratagem Initiative is currently assisting Semafor in its efforts to find a qualified and entrepreneurial student to work as an intern for the fall semester. Last spring, media veteran and SFS alum Justin Smith spoke before a small audience of Georgetown students about his career trajectory, the modern media landscape, and his three-year-old news company, Semafor. As Co-Founder and CEO of Semafor, he spoke to the organization’s international emphasis and commitment to transparency. For those of you who don’t know, Semafor is the fastest growing media organization in the world, known for its live journalism events, all-star team of reporters, and curated audience with a readership composed of 30% CEOs. That spring, TSI Founder and President, Leighton Farrel, spoke to Mr. Smith about growing newsletters, executing events, and leading teams. This summer, Leighton has served as Semafor’s first ever intern, working on projects for Semafor’s C-Suite, with opportunities to meet and engage with 12 Senators and 20+ CEOs at Semafor’s live journalism events, all while managing multiple streams of entry-level workflows. 

Semafor is expanding its internship program this fall and is currently seeking qualified applicants from YOU, the TSI Community. This internship will be hybrid, with the intern expected to work 15-20hrs/week at a rate of $20/hr. The full job description is available HERE. TSI Summer Updates:

TSI members have been hard at work this summer creating new programs and opportunities for the fall semester. Check out our new website HERE to learn more about all we have to offer. Our Stratagem newsletter will return on September 5th with the Beyond Borders Brief and September 7th for the Deep Dive. We are still actively seeking young alumni to join our mentorship program or speak at one of our TSI Coffee Chats this fall. Please email [email protected] if you are interested. 

TSI Fall Recruitment:

Applications for the 2025 The Stratagem Initiative’s fall recruitment cycle will open on August 31st and the links to the applications will be published in the newsletter, on social media, and distributed at our information sessions. For more information on the organization please attend one of our information sessions that will occur the week of September 7th.
